Time Magazine released an interview today with Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima. During the interview, Mr. Kimishima talked about many topics regarding the future of the company, broaching topics such as Nintendo Accounts, My Nintendo, Nintendo’s Mobile Strategy, the Wii U, and the Nintendo NX.
Mr. Kimishima affirmed in the interview the NX is well into development and more information will be available for the system next year. He also added that NX will be a completely different experience compared to that of the Wii and Wii U. Admittedly, Mr. Kimishima stated it’s hard to explain the difference between the Wii and Wii U to the consumer in order to upgrade from to another. With that being said, Mr. Kimishima assured that the NX will not be another version of the Wii, but something entirely different.
“It’s something where we have to move away from those platforms in order to make it something that will appeal to our consumer base.”
– Tatsumi Kimishima
All we know so far about the NX is that it will be vastly powerful compared to the Wii U and possibly on par or stronger than the PlayStation 4. We also know that the NX will be a mobile/home console. We don’t know exactly what the system will bring to the table come 2016, but hopefully Nintendo will put gimmicks aside and release a true competitor to the console market.
Let me know what you guys think about the Nintendo NX in comments below.
