The Pokemon Company stealth announced the Pokemon Legends release date on Twitter ahead of E3 2021. Pokemon Legends Arceus releases January 28, 2022, for Nintendo Switch.
The Pokemon Company did not pair a new trailer or even a press release with the Pokemon Legends release date announcement. However, it’s possible we’ll see more of the game at Nintendo’s E3 2021 presentation.
It’s also possible we could see Pokemon Legends as a Switch Pro game. Many have noted the Pokemon Legends trailer showed the hardware struggling to render Pokemon moving in the open world, and while that was an early development trailer, it will still be intended for more powerful hardware.
Recent Bloomberg reports point to a Nintendo Switch Pro release sometime later in 2021, possibly around the holiday shopping season, which would fit perfectly with Pokemon Legends‘ 2022 release date — though naturally, nothing is certain until Nintendo announces it.
Pokemon Legends Arceus is an open-world Pokemon game set in Sinnoh long before Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl take place. Pokemon from multiple regions roam the land and live alongside the people of Sinnoh, but so far, that’s all we know about the game.
