The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct has definitely gotten off to a dubious start. We only just today got to see our first actual gameplay footage that Activision didn’t immediately turn around and proclaim as being from an unfinished build, and even the recent and official look at the gameplay was brief and uninformative.
That didn’t stop Activision from letting people know they could pre-order the game from Gamestop before, and it would almost be disappointing if they hadn’t announced some DLC for the game before it came out. It would almost be as disappointing as if they did announce DLC with us having seen so little of the game.
Which is exactly what they’ve done.
The DLC is listed so far as being exclusive to Gamestop pre-orders, and includes what Activision calls Herd Mode, which is what any other game in any genre calls survival mode. The DLC also includes several new melee weapons including a kukri, reinforced hatchet, and two different types of machete.
It seems fairly standard for launch DLC, though having ‘Herd’ mode as a DLC add-on seems a rather blatant money-grub for a zombie game. The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct hits stores in North America March 19.
