Activision’s The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is getting close to release. It hits shelves in the US on March 19 on Windows, XBox 360, and PS3. The next day it hits those markets in Australia as well. While in North America we will see the game also release on Wii U on the 26th, Activision has now announced that the game will never see a release for Nintendo’s latest console in the land down under.
The reason given by Activision behind the announcement was certainly simple enough: lack of interest.
As with every game release, publishers decide which platforms to release based on customer demand. Unfortunately it wasn’t there for the Wii U sku on The Walking Dead…
A part of me feels this should only be expected for the game. It was only announced slightly less than a year ago and while it’s already so close to release it also only just had its first official game play shown to the public at large less than a week ago.
Activision? The next time you rush a tie-in on seeing someone else’s prove so successful, at least get it quickly enough to show off earlier. It’s hard to build interest in a product no one can see. The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct would have appreciated the effort.
