What Details are Confirmed?

Blood and Wine is set within the Nilfgaardian realm of Toussaint, a realm which contains ample amounts of wine – hence the DLC’s title – which is taken directly from The Witcher fantasy novels the franchise is based upon. This particular downloadable content is heavily influenced by French and Italian architecture and landscapes, and consequently features similar buildings, countryside, villas, winding roads and hill formations to create a vibrant, inviting landscape.

More Details

Featuring 30 hours of open-world gameplay, Blood and Wine was designed to contrast from the original game’s style, featuring a much more colourful, less bleak world, containing unfortunate story tales, and unexpected stories. Furthermore, there will be new and powerful allies available. The landscape will feature ancient Elven ruins scattered about, unique monsters and plenty of those places of power. All of which, leads stalwart Geralt down a mystery involving a terrible beast, which he will no doubt have to go toe-to-toe with.

Further Details

More abilities are confirmed for the protagonist Geralt to learn, around 12 of them, utilising the skill-augmenting mutations. Along with those extra character abilities, are extra alchemical recipes, crafting schematics and new witcher armour, featuring increased defences compared to the main game’s offering. All armour can also be altered visually, with different dyes available; each armour piece can apparently have this dye applied, potentially resulting in a multi-coloured character. Unique dyes also exist for the completionists who overcome the most challenging areas within the region; CD Projekt Red say this is a special thanks to fans.

The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine is out now on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.
