After months of little news on the release date of the second installment in Telltale Games episodic The Wolf Among Us, co-founder Kevin Bruner announced today that Episode 2: Smoke and Mirrors, will arrive the first week of February. Bruner announced of Episode 2’s release date window via Reddit and Telltale’s official forums earlier today.
“We are working hard with all of our partners (Xbox, PlayStation, Steam, Apple) to coordinate everything, but we’re confident enough to announce that here,” Bruner wrote. The post did not go into details on platform release order.
Bruner also didn’t go into much specifics as to why so little information was available for Smoke and Mirrors up to this point, or why there has been a bit of a delay in getting the episode out, but assured players that the episode is “looking really good.”
“We are very concerned about the long delay for this episode, but this is one of those occasions where several things conspired against us (not to mention the additional delays due to the holidays),” Bruner wrote. “I won’t dive into the details, but it’s been an unusual and specific set of circumstances and we do not anticipate it happening again as we go forward with the rest of the season.”
The Wolf Among Us is Telltale’s five-episode prequel to Bill Willingham’s long-running and critically acclaimed graphic novel series Fables, which involves various displaced fairy tale characters living in contemporary New York. Episode 1: Faith, garnished generally positive reviews after its October 2013 release, and is currently available for Xbox 360, PC, PS3, Mac, Vita, and iOS.
