University of British Columbia came into PAX East to show why they are the best League of Legends team on the college stage. They took on Robert Morris University in an exciting best-of-five match and came out victorious.

Just Another Year

UBC came back into the ULoL Campus Series this year looking like they never left last year’s tournament. They had an easy road to the Finals, where they once again beat RMU.

Even after losing last year, people still thought RMU could pull out the big win against UBC, because they have the backing and resources to go around and recruit players to come and play at their school. While UBC pulled together players from the school’s existing population, they just happened to have some of the best players on the college stage.

The University of British Columbia and Robert Morris University had already faced off in the finals last year, when UBC took the win over RMU 3-0. This year the UBC team had all 5 of the players that won the championship last year, while RMU had most of the roster changed — only keeping their support on the team.

UBC won the set (of course), but this time RMU did take 1 game for themselves before losing the match 3-1. For the next 3 games, UBC seemed to pull all the experience they had built over the last two years playing with the same 5 guys on their roster. They also made the right changes in the pick and ban phase to take the series back in a clean fashion.

UBC Will Stay on Top

Looking back at the team’s run in the last two years, it’s clear that UBC is one of the best (if not the best) college team to ever play League. They have a lot to work toward in the future.

Whats Next?

All good things must come to an end, and this includes the run that this 5-man UBC roster has made these last 2 years. DaiJurJur, their Top Laner, is graduating from the school and will no longer be on the team. ProofofPayment, their Jungler, seems to be taking a break from the team to focus on school.

On the flip side — Bobqinxd, their Mid Laner and best player, is leaving the school to follow his passion for League and see if he can make it onto a pro team. The Bot Lane might be the only one that stays from the team, and may help mold the newcomers into champions.
