Ubisoft is showing off the first alpha game footage of the upcoming next-gen title Assassin’s Creed: Unity. The footage confirms earlier rumors that the game will at least partially take place during the French Revolution.
This is welcomed news for the Assassin’s Creed fanbase, who have asked for the French Revolution since before Assassin’s Creed 3. It’s not hard to understand why, considering that the main conflict of the franchise between the Templars and the Assassins is almost a mirror image of the historical conflict between the bourgeois and the proletariat. The fact that high-profile murders happened constantly during the French Revolution doesn’t hurt things either.
The video is gorgeous, but with Ubisoft recently coming under fire for graphically downgrading their games during production, I’d take the graphics with a grain of salt (or slice of cake in this case). Personally though, as long as I get to climb the Notre-Dame, I’ll be having a good time.
Assassin’s Creed Unity is set to be released sometime this holiday season.
