Upcoming Terraria Update Packing a Punch

Just a little more info? Please?
This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information

The PC version of Terraria receiving an update is kind of a big deal, at least to some of us. The update looks to be the biggest one yet, which is quite a surprise after the news that the game would no longer be receiving developer support. Just how big of an update are we maybe possibly hopefully looking at?

Redigit has been spilling at least some of the beans in IRC and the official forums. The fine people over at the Official Terraria Wiki have compiled upcoming features that Redigit has mentioned recently to fans. The list is quite extensive, though not to be entirely trusted as there is no guarantee that all of these additions will make it to the final version of the next patch.

Some notable changes possibly coming to the game are:

  • A new hook
  • 250+ new items
  • Glowing bricks
  • New colors for wires and bricks
  • New ore and mine-able clouds
  • Near gear!
  • Actual waterfalls (as seen here)
  • Weather
  • Biome tweaks
  • Pets and NPCs
  • Walking up 1 block tiles instead of jumping
  • PvP and co-op improvements
  • Hardmode tweaks

Be sure to take a look at the entire list, and don’t be afraid to stop by the Terraria IRC if you’ve got the itch for adventure! Or information. Or both!

If you’ve really got the itch, be sure to take a gander at the new snow biome and the new cannons as seen in this video.
