Valve has started a new program for highschool students interested in the video game industry. The website is run by a group of high school interns taking part in the project.
What does this mean exactly?
Most companies don’t just let kids come and work for them. They usually won’t even look at you until you’ve completed college. Pipeline however is different it gives high schoolers a chance to see what working for a major game industry would be like. To test the capabilities of younger employees.
The things Pipeline will show will be mostly based on the questions asked on the forums. If you have a question about the video game industry post it on the forums and maybe it will get answered by the Pipeline participants. On the website it states the details should be released within the next month or so but you can go ahead and sign up for a periodic newsletter to keep you informed.
What do I think?
I think this is huge. It’s great that Valve is reaching out to younger minds. It will help get new ideas out there. I think it will be interesting to see what becomes of this in the future, so I will be signing up for their newsletter. As always thank you for reading and follow my team on Facebook for more exciting GameSkinny news!
