Paradox Interactive have released a statement that is part surprise, part disappointment, and just a little relieving with all things considered: Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2 has been delayed.
That’s not all the statement reveals, however. Developer Hardsuit Labs have been removed from the project entirely and are being replaced with a development studio yet to be announced. Paradox will also not be accepting new pre-orders for Bloodlines 2 for the time being, leaving the game’s future perceptibly in the air.
This is not the first time Bloodlines 2 has been delayed, with the game initially announced for release in early 2020 and seeing a number of notable staff being removed from the project over the course of the year.
The original Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines holds a place in the annals of gaming history as one of the most notable RPGs of its time, despite its technical issues. It is disappointing to see the sequel going through a rocky development cycle, but if recent exceedingly-hyped releases are anything to go by, then one has to trust Paradox is taking the right step here in protecting the integrity of the project.
Currently, Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2 has no announced prospective release timeframe, but perhaps that is for the best while the title continues development.
