It’s official, guys! Legendary Pictures has announced a release date for Warcraft. After six years of talk, we can look forward to seeing it on December 18, 2015.
The film, billed as “an epic adventure of world-colliding conflict”, will be based on the infamous Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG), World of Warcraft. Warcraft is a joint production between Legendary Pictures and Universal. It will be directed by Duncan Jones who also directed films such as 2009’s Moon and Source Code in 2011. Warcraft will be set in the familiar world of Azeroth.
Filming should begin in January of 2014. It’s still a pretty long way off, but I’m hoping it’ll be worth the wait. As always with video game movies, we as gamers worry about how the film will represent a franchise we know and love.
World of Warcraft is a game with which many people are familiar. I, for one, was a WoW addict for years, and I know Azeroth well. It will be interesting to see how the movie does and what its real focus and storyline will be.
