Jay and Silent Bob – characters from Kevin Smith’s well-known View Askewniverse – could potentially be receiving their own video game from indie developer Interabang Entertainment.
The game, called Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch, stars the titular characters as they get trapped in a giant city-sized mall. When they can’t escape, they try to then discover the secret of the “diabolical labyrinth.”
The player will swap between the two characters as they traverse through the mall, and uses combat similarly to games like “Godhand” and the “Marvel vs. Capcom” series. Players will also be able to play co-op with friends.
In addition to traditional combat there is also the “Convo Combo Combat” system, that will allow players to “shape the outcome of boss interactions” by hurling insults instead of exchanging blows. If you don’t want to fight, you can also attempt to persuade the boss character not to fight and gain a valuable ally.
Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch is currently being crowdfunded through Fig, a site that functions similarly to Kickstarter, but is more exclusive as to what projects are being funded. Fig also enables wealthier investors to profit if they decide to fund particular projects.
The developer Interabang Entertainment will work alongside Kevin Smith and others in order to bring the “tone and wittiness” found in Kevin Smith’s films.
The developers plan to bring their game to PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 at the moment. If you’d like to contribute to their development efforts, you can head here.
