As a thank you to players, Overwatch is holding a Double XP Weekend to close out the Overwatch Anniversary event. But a lot of players are asking: when exactly does the event start and end?
The Double XP Weekend started yesterday, June 8 at 5 pm PDT and will end on Monday, June 12 at 11:59 pm PDT. The bonus will be applied to almost every source of XP in the game — including completing a match, winning a match, earning medals, and playing consecutive matches. The only experience that will not be boosted will be the First Win of the Day bonus.
The Anniversary Event closely followed (by less than a month) the Uprising event, with most people spending their coins and money on skins and loot boxes for the limited edition skins. Redditors complained about this, and some recommended a Double XP Weekend to help players obtain loot boxes. It’s unclear whether Blizzard added this to the Anniversary Event in response, or if it’s just a happy coincidence that will satisfy fans. Either way, it’s going to be a good weekend for Overwatch.
Good luck in your matches, and may your XP be plentiful!
