Golden Joystick Award winning free-to-play MMO, World of Tanks, will be adding more tanks in its September 11th (EU)/September 12th (US) update, bringing the game up to version 8.8.
As well as rebalancing some of the game mechanics and tanks’ powers, the exciting news is about the new tanks themselves. New tanks will include:
- A whole new branch with four new tanks within the Soviet medium tank branch
- Two tanks added to the German tech tree
- Two Chinese premium tanks
Developers, Wargaming.net, will also add a whole new map, Tundra, which boasts disused railroad yards and bridges, and a distinct fall/autumn feel. They will also be making significant changes to three of their existing maps: Serene Coast, Komarin, and Swamp.
These new additions, as well as fixes for existing issues and tweaks for more balanced gameplay, with no doubt make sure that the tank-tastic MMO will not see a wane in popularity just yet.

TankBox 360
World of Tanks is also gearing up for its release on the Xbox 360, providing an opportunity for players who like tanks to get in on the fun using their consoles. However, Xbox 360 owners will be completely segregated from the PC-playing crowd, being hosted on completely separate servers, and current PC players will have to create additional separate accounts.
But, holding the Guinness World Record for “Most Players Online Simultaneously on One MMO Server”, will no doubt mean that even at launch there’ll be no shortage of players wanting to see what all the fuss is about and the why it’s received umpteen accolades.
With clan battles, random events, and high-octane encounters, it’s an MMO to go ballistic over. TANKS!
