If you had asked any fan a year ago whether or not the World of Warcraft movie would ever actually be filmed, their answer would have probably been a no. However, producer Charles Roven recently spoke with SlashFilm about the filming schedule and a possible release window.
Roven told SlashFilm that the World of Warcraft movie would begin filming in the early part of 2014. If all goes well with production, then it is quite possible for the film to see a 2015 release.
This filming schedule and possible release date make the WoW film seem like, barring some horrible mishaps, it will be released. Considering how bleak the outlook was prior to Duncan Jones’ hiring as the director, this is wonderful news. Or terrible news, if the movie is of the same quality as most video game film adaptations.
Even though there are plans for the filming and hypothetical release, there is still no information as to what time frame the WoW film’s story will take place in. All I know is that if the film is good, I will be happy. If it’s bad, then hopefully it will be Super Mario Bros. film bad.
Quick, someone call Leguizamo!
