Ready your weapons, soldiers: the Pandaren campaign is officially under way. With the arrival of Horde and Alliance forces on the shores of Krasarang Wilds, there’s a metric butt ton of ways to support your faction and slaughter the enemy’s. A few weeks in and I’m still excited about having more chances to spill Alliance blood in Pandaria.
THE BIG STUFF
The Brawler’s Guild, the new scenarios, and the Krasarang Wilds campaign aside, there’s a load of other changes that took place this patch. Quite a few tweaks have been made to classes in an attempt to balance the changes that took place during 5.0 and its sub-patches.
As a Warlock, the new changes to the generation of burning embers for rain of fire and conflagarate make me want to try out my destro off-spec a bit more. Prior to 5.1, I was enjoying playing Affliction with the grimoire of sacrifice, especially since 5.0 carried with it the annoying tendency of my succubus and her empowered shiva counterpart to not attack until the enemy was almost done. Not to mention my imp being stunned for 18 days…
THE (FUN) SMALL STUFF
Most of these points have already been beaten to death, I’m sure, so, instead we’re going to focus on a few points that really excite me: the new cooking bag and changes to raid functions, particularly LFR.
ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS SOME MORE INVENTORY SPACE
The new cooking bag is a huge fucking relief. Seriously, how did they not make one of these prior to 5.1? Now that this bag is out and lesser charms are added to the currency tab, I’ll have plenty of room to store my other items, like more cooking items.
ONE IS THE MOST EFFICIENT NUMBER THAT YOU CAN EVER DO
Raid groups are no longer necessary if you want to run through pre-MOP content. Thank the Titans. Doing runs for transmog gear was a drag when you had to get another person to help you out, but now even the loneliest of neckbeards can trans-their-mogs all day long.
SUICIDE RATES DOWN AS LFR BECOMES (SLIGHTLY) MORE BEARABLE
In addition to this change, in 5.1, Raid Finder has become a bit better. You actually get the deserter debuff if you join and leave a raid! Not only that, but the notifications that let a player know how many bosses were already defeated have been removed. This means trying to find replacements when you’re almost done running through an LFR won’t be filled with people going “2/3? TOODLES!” that every buttwank did prior to that.
ONE LAST THING
5.1 is pretty sweet. That being said, I’m still counting down the days until 5.2 when I can get my green fire.
0% increase in damage, 100% increase in cool.
