WoW: Green Fire Delayed Until 5.2, Warlocks Weep Worldwide

Tears were shed when the green fire warlock scenario was missing in 5.1, but Blizzard's Dave Kosak ensures us that it's on its way. It's just not coming until patch 5.2.

The people have been demanding green fire for locks for ages now. It’s about time Blizzard listened. Aren’t you all glad they threw in that scenario for Outlands in 5.1? Oh wait, you mean they didn’t? Does this mean we’re not getting some ballin’ flames of green?

Relax. It’s coming. Just not until patch 5.2. Although that’s still a few months off, Blizzard’s Dave Kosak assured lock players that they’d finally get their neat-o cosmetic upgrade. Since my main is a warlock, I’m pretty stoked. I can’t wait to have some fel flames. Now let’s just hope this doesn’t get pushed back to 5.3.

Practical Applications of Fel Fire in a Post-Cataclysm World

Once it eventually does come out, players who love added visual flavor will rejoice across the realms. These little cosmetic differences are something that players on RP servers tear asunder their pantaloons in an uproarious scataclysm in excitement over. That’s not to say that non-RP players won’t enjoy green fire; burning up a raid boss or players from your enemy faction will look even cooler when done in green. I know I’ll be coating some gnomes in fel fire come patch 5.2

Class-Specific Quests 2: Electric Boogaloo

With this new cosmetic upgrade focused on a specific class, it makes you wonder if Blizzard is planning on doing some more class specific quests and scenarios in the future. New players don’t remember it, but you used to have to earn the majority of your cool, class defining bits by doing quests that were often times difficult and time consuming. Nowadays, you young whippersnappers get your spells placed directly in the book!

I’m doubting that the warlock scenario will be too difficult when compared to the class quests of yore, but hopefully they’ll start doing something similar in the future with other classes, so, everyone can have a moment to shine with their favorite character. I’m thinking that the outlook is good, especially given that even in Cataclysm, we were seeing legendary items that were meant specifically for certain classes and roles, adding in a bit of flavor only the way (INSERT YOUR FAVORITE CLASS HERE) can do it.
