I know it’s been awhile since the Steam Box has been mentioned in public. We’ve all been waiting for some solid information about the Steam Box since March when Valve announced prototypes would be ready in three to four months. Of course, that time frame has come and gone. If you check Valve time though, we’re actually right on track. Which means…
Valve Mentioned the Steam Box Again
However, Gabe Newell was at LinuxCon today and, while pimping Steam on Linux, mentioned some big news about the Steam Box coming next week. Check out the article here where Gabe says the Steam Box and Linux are not only compatible but could be the future of gaming.
Linux is not a member of the Peanuts comic strip as I always think it is when I read it out loud. It is an operating system that is used by approximately 1% of PC users. It’s weird why Valve would say Linux is the future when most people outside of hardcore gamers consider it obsolete. To be fair, Linux is supposed to allow for more innovation and make collaboration easier. Also, he was at LinuxCon, what’s he going to say?
ANYWAY, at this event Gabe Newell mentioned the Steam Box. He mentioned that some more news should be released next week and every gamer holds their breathe. The Steam Box is a next-gen gaming system that could be the start of New-Gen gaming. Any news about it is big news. Now, hopefully next week means real time and not two years from now.
***Soon…***
