As a gamer, whenever boredom sets in, one of my reflexes (that isn’t Netflix) is to go out into the wonderful World Wide Web and search for a new game to devour – something that could keep me busy for hours or days. A cut-me-off-from-the-rest-of-the-world-while-I-kill-this-last-boss-but-oh-wait-there’s-more type of game.
That is not the game I discovered, but I feel like this one needed to be talked about.
The king of opposite day
There Is No Game is (not) a game created by a French guy named KaMiZoTo. It does not last long. It is not really a game. But it is…er…intriguing? For at least two minutes.
It’s difficult to talk about There Is No Game without revealing its concept. Or rather, its lack of concept. To begin with, you must choose your flag (French or UK), and once that has been done, the not-really-a-game game begins.
In order to enjoy the full extent (and accent, for English-speakers) of the game, it is preferable to have your volume turned on. And then sit back, relax, and enjoy your minute of distraction.
Just keep in mind: this game won the Construct Deception Jam, a challenge where people must create a game using the Construct 2 game development software – this time around with the theme “Deception”.
It’s free to play! Check it out here.
