While the Xbox Series X still has a vague Holiday 2020 release date (possibly around the end of November), it seems Xbox Series X controllers have already leaked in the wild. More importantly, the controller packaging allegedly confirms rumors that Microsoft is working on a second next-gen Xbox system called the Xbox Series S.
According to The Verge, Twitter user Zakk_exe purchased the XSX controller online, and despite being sold as an XB1 controller, it’s instead a controller for the Xbox Series X.

The manual inside the box indicates the controller is compatible with “Xbox Series X|S”. It also appears to work with Xbox One, as well as mobile devices. That would make sense considering xCloud is heading to Game Pass Ultimate on September 15 and will work with “Android phones and tablets.”
The next-gen controller was first revealed on the Xbox Wire back in March, though it was black.
Obviously, Microsoft hasn’t announced the Xbox Series S yet. But VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb says we should expect an announcement sometime within the next three weeks — in other words, sometime before the end of August.
