It’s been 10 years in the making and for many of us, will either rejuvenate or kill the Final Fantasy franchise. Final Fantasy XV is just around the corner with a November release! If you’re hyped for the game, here are some buying suggestions that will ensure you’re set to revel in the glory of FFXV upon launch.
1. Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV Steelbook Blu-Ray
With acting talent including Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey and Sean Bean and Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul, Kingsglaive is a visual feast of a movie.
Taking place parallel to the game’s First Act, the film focuses on King Regis of Lucis and his elite soldiers, named the Kingsglaive. The CG film is an action spectacle and sets the scene for the upcoming game.
This awesome steelbook edition also includes an extended cut of the Brotherhood Final Fantasy XV anime short series which explores the backgrounds of the game’s four main characters.
It releases on October 4th in the USA and September 30th in the UK so be sure to snap it up if you haven’t seen it yet!
2. Limited Edition FFXV PS4 Console
FFXV already looks like a stunning game, but what better place to play it than an exclusive PS4 Slim console decorated with FFXV images?!
This beautiful limited “Luna Edition” PS4 console can be yours for $449 from GameStop (or get the UK version from GAME at £329.99) on release date, and also comes with an exclusive steelbook version of the game, the Kingsglaive Blu-Ray and DLC skins!
3. Official Collector’s Edition Strategy Guide
In a game as huge as Final Fantasy XV, it can never hurt to have some expert guidance. Whether you never play a game without a trusty guide or you always go in without backup, the maps, tips and Bestiary are just some of the hugely useful features this Piggyback Strategy Guide can provide players with.
The Collector’s Edition guide comes with a sleek black hardcover, a premium lithograph, a map poster and 32 extra pages.
If you want to make sure you find every secret and explore every area, you can pick it up for $33.99 USD/£24.99 GBP.
4. Cactaur/Moogle Bookmark
Now that you have your hefty strategy guide, you’ll need a way to keep track of your maps and relevant information.
Rather than memorizing page numbers why not save your progress with these awesome Cactaur and Moogle bookmarks from Etsy seller SillyLunastorta.
These two iconic Final Fantasy creatures are the perfect bookmark for your FFXV needs, and at $3.25 USD/£2.50 GBP they won’t break the bank.
5. Official Play Arts Kai Figures
If you really grow attached the four main characters, these superbly detailed figures from Square Enix will look fantastic on your shelf.
Capturing the characteristics of Noctis, Prompto, Gladiolus and Ignis, these 11” tall figures are available to preorder for $129.99 each (or $139.99 for Gladiolus).
Each figure includes flexible joints, a display stand and interchangeable hand parts so you can display them in your favorite poses.
6. Cosplay Fantasy XV
Sometimes simply playing as your favorite characters in-game or proudly showing off your Play Arts Kai figures just isn’t enough. But never fear, the FFXV Cosplay scene is already booming.
If you’re super-rich, the official Roen clothes line (as worn by the characters in-game) is available. However this is only an option if you’d be willing to pay the equivalent of $2366 just for Prompto’s waistcoat.
For the more realistic among us, why not pick up a Noctis wig for a much more reasonable price. You can get really meta and play as Noctis — while dressed as Noctis!
7. Moogle Mug
As you should well know, it’s important to stay hydrated; even while playing video games. There’s an almost endless number of mug designs out there, and you can even customize your own.
This particular mug, featuring an adorable moogle, can be yours for $15.38 USD/£9.94 GBP. I can’t promise that your drink will taste even more refreshing when sipped from this mug, but who wouldn’t feel happier with a moogle on their mug?!
While you’re at it, why not pick up a Final Fantasy-themed coaster to protect your surfaces!
8. Songs From Final Fantasy XV
This 3-song mini-album by Florence and the Machine features a stirringly beautiful rendition of Stand By Me. Each song has been featured in promotional materials for the game and the collection is a great little taster to tide you over until November!
9. Chocobo Plush Doll
Chocobos are making a return in FFXV in a big way, and this 7” soft toy is a chance to own your very own member of everyone’s favorite over-sized bird species.
10. Stickers’ Galore
Who doesn’t love stickers? Go crazy with these awesome FFXV logo stickers at $2.40 USD/ £1.69 GBP.
Need some new wallpaper? Just plaster every surface with them. Attach them to strangers’ foreheads to give Square some free PR (I’m sure no one will mind a sneaky sticker attack, right?!)
Each of these items will complement your Final Fantasy XV experience and immerse you in and out of the game.
Now there’s only one thing left to do before settling down and giving your life over to FFXV for 60-odd hours: prepare the snacks!
