Sony to Release a Frozen-Themed PS4

Due to be released in Japan, Sony will release a PS4 game console that has Frozen characters “Anna” and “Elsa” etched onto the system.

The console will only be released in Japan, with a price tag of 42,980 yen.  That’s about $424 to us in The United States.  The PS4 will be available on July 16th, containing the Dualshock 4 controller, headset and console.  The movie will not be included with the system.  There are no immediate plans to release the system outside of Japan.

Other than the etching on the system, there is no real difference from the original PS4.

Disney’s mega-hit Frozen has earned more than $1.2 billion in revenue.  The soundtrack has also become the biggest selling soundtrack album since Mamma Mia! in the United Kingdom.  

So why release the the Exclusive PS4 in Japan first?  Frozen dominated the box office in Japan for over 15 straight weeks, demonstrating the residents of Japan possibly loved the movie more than United States residents.

Again the Exclusive console will be release in Japan on July 16th.
