As a gamer, video game soundtracks add an infinitesimally layer of detail that enhances the plot to a whole new level. But to allow that beauty to shine through, we need a good pair of headphones. That being said, I’m pleased to say that the AIAIAI Capital Headphones exceeds my expectations and never fails to impress. AIAIAI is a company from DENMARK that designs audiophile quality products with a sense of style and fashion like no other.
Design
The design of the headphones looks rather basic but it has a metropolitan/urban aesthetic that’s hard to replicate no thanks to its originality. The headband is reinforced with nylon and fibreglass that is flexible and solid, adding strength like no pair of ordinary headphones. The headphones were designed to take snow, hail and anything that’s thrown at it. Durability is easily one of the best features of these headphones.
Thankfully, the nylon cushioning allowed the headband to lie on my head with ease. The pleather earpads wear solid and felt expensive. But the cushions compressed against my ears due to the tight, solid fit that added some discomfort. This tight fit detracted from the overall experience.
The twin jointed cables split in the middle, with Apple Compatible controls on the right cable. This feature would have impressed, if not for the hard to press controls that made it chore to actually use. But the special treat here, is its unique folding style that integrates the use of the headphone joints as joints for your cables to be wound up on, creating a seamless, convenient package for one to carry about.
Packaging
The box is shaped as a giant cube with a magnetic flap. Colours integrated into the packaging represent the theme and colours of the headphones purchased. The package feels expensive as a sign of quality. However, a carrying case or the added functionality of a detachable cable would be nice.
Audio Quality
This is where the headphones soar in comparison to its other features. Long story short, these headphones have sublime audio quality. Playing the Zelda Wind Waker theme, the mids and highs are balanced and accurate. Unlike modern-day headphones, the bass doesn’t overpower the other less-significant mids and highs. Bass is punchy but the trebles are alittle to crisp as it exerts a little too much of an impact. Granted, sound quality could have been more accurate but over-accuracy results in an uncomfortable experience. Balance is key and the AIAIAI Capitals surpasses that.
In conclusion, AIAIAI has designed an amazing pair of headphones at an affordable price of 100 US dollars for audiophiles with an urban fashion sense. For gaming, it feels perfect for single player games. Needless to say, I adore these headphones. I give it a 9/10.
