The sky is falling! The sky is Falling!
Relax, the sky isn’t falling. It just has a giant hole in it which seems to be raining out a never ending army of demons.
Dragon Age Inquisition is a lot like Mass Effect; this is most likely because they are made by the same company. This means that any decision you make in the game can completely change the story line. Along with this fact, the game has two predecessors and the choices made in the previous games changes the current game dramatically. Now, this doesn’t mean that you have to play the older games; Dragon Age Inquisition created a site where you can make all of the big choices in the previous games which can change your story. I personally have always loved this function, and it creates many many more hours of game-play.
Characters
Dragon Age is divided into three distinctive character types, Rouges who are excellent at range and speed, Warrior who is your classic knight types, and mages who are pretty self explanatory. These character types are easily one of the biggest decisions you will have to make in the game. Once you make your choice, you are locked into that classes’ weapons for the remainder of the game. This can be fairly annoying when your warrior has only one ranged attack with a fairly long cool-down.
Romance
Electronic Arts, the company that developed Mass Effect and Dragon Age, is infamous for including romance in their games. Dragon Age Inquisition has quite a few characters your Inquisitor can romance, but this isn’t your standard romance like in other EA games. Romances in this game are graphic and highly suggestive, such as the “Ride the Iron Bull” quest (Iron Bull being the name of one of the Inquisitor’s companions). Having romance in game does create a lot more fun in the game-play due to the amount of effort a player has to make in order to create a flourishing romance in the game world. In order to make a romance really work in Dragon Age, the player needs to constantly check in with their possible lover. This can prove to be pretty tiresome when the character you are attempting to court has either moved locations or is on the opposite side of the world.
Crafting
The ability to craft weapons and armors out of materials you find on your quests can give any player a huge advantage in the game. When I played this game, I focused on finding the rarest metals in order to have stronger armor then I could purchase at my current level. This technique makes sure that you are not only saving money but makes leveling up less important to continue the game. I personally rushed the final boss while being five levels below him. Due to the strength of my weapons and armor, not to mention the special equipment I had, I was able to easily beat the boss without my health ever dropping below 60%. Dragon Age is a bit unfair when it comes to special items. My favorite item is a necklace that prevents 100% of enemy melee damage every three seconds. This item is fairly easy to get mid game and makes whomever you choose to wear it practically invincible seeing as how the majority of your enemies use physical type attacks with a cool-down of around one and a half seconds.
Multiplayer
Dragon Age Inquisition does feature a multiplayer mode which is the same game type as in their Mass Effect series. This means multiplayer is a survival mode while completing a number of objectives with a team. The multiplayer mode features a standard RNG based reward system in order to obtain characters such as archers, mages, and warriors, and the chests you can purchase for in game currency or real money also contain possible weapons and armor to equip to certain characters. The multiplayer is a very well done feature that provides hours of game-play and excitement throughout the game.
In Conclusion
Overall, Dragon Age Inquisition is a great game that provides endless amounts of entertainment through thousands of different story line impacting decisions and conversational aspects. If you have any comments feel free to write them below and stay tuned because next week I will be attempting to beat Dark Souls 3 in three days.
