A game on which the foundation of the future of gaming stands before us…
Entropia Universe!
Entropia Universe is a massively multiplayer online virtual universe designed by the Swedish software company MindArk, based in Gothenburg.
Entropia Universe uses a micropayment business model, in which players may buy in-game currency (PED – Project Entropia Dollars) with real money that can be redeemed back into U.S. dollar at a fixed exchange rate of 10:1. This means that virtual items acquired within Entropia Universe have a real cash value, and a participant may, at any time, initiate a withdrawal of their accumulated PEDs back into U.S. dollars according to the fixed exchange rate, minus transaction fees; the minimum amount for a withdrawal is 1000 PED. The Entropia Universe is a direct continuation of Project Entropia.
The game entered Guiness World Records for the most expensive virtual world objects ever sold in 2004 and 2008. To add to that, in 2009 a virtual space station, a popular destination, sold for $330,000. Then it was run over again, in 2010, by Jon Jacobs who sold a virtual resort on Planet Calypso for $635,000; this property was sold in chunks, with the largest sold for $335,000.
The game has many powerful elements. It is free to play which so many enjoy. It is an amazing game. Many have said it can compare with World of Warcraft.
After many hours of playing Entropia Universe, my group and I feel we have enough to come out with. If you enjoyed World of Warcraft for the social aspects, this game is for you. This is the perfect game for those used to FPS gaming as well.
It is free to play; you can make money from playing, and there is always something new around the corner.
- The graphics are decent, but I would not play for the graphics. They are much closer to those of RuneScape. But they do work well enough with the way you play the game that they make sense. Coming so close to a decently natural reality.
- The sound quality is terrific, they have some pretty cool sounds. You can here the beeps coming from the robots attacking you at the beginning and the gunfire raging from a distance. As a plus, there is also a voice chat for free built in-game for players to use that as you move farther away from the speaker you hear them less.
- The lag is at a minimal if you have a decent computer. Most computers can run at the minimal settings as long as they aren’t 4+ years old. I had some minor lag as I am using a laptop but I don’t expect a desktop to have even half the lag of my laptop.
- The social aspects are fantastic. You can have groups with ranks and it changes the way you view life. I personally worked with a group of guys. We were the Royal Rebellion. Defenders of Entropia. We played for days like this. Running around in big groups.
This game will make you feel accomplished. Make you feel you’ve done well at life. You get good rewards for small tasks. It is so much like our world in the way it feels and the way the characters interact. I myself had $50 worth of in-game currency by the time I was finished. I had not spent a penny. This is where you feel your accomplishment paying you off.
I recommend you check this out.
