Nintendo’s Wii Review: GameCubes Gonna’ Hate

A long-time Nintendo console nerd's view on the Nintendo Wii. GameCubes gonna' hate.
This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information

After being a long-term Nintendo fan and nerd, I eventually had to go ahead and buy one of the newest systems, the Nintendo Wii. I must say my fellow gamers, this has to be on of the most spectacular gaming consoles Nintendo has ever put out. I’m thoroughly impressed, and I’ll tell you why.

The functionality and user-friendly platform has grasped my heart and refuses to let go. Not only can you play Nintendo Wii games on this ground breaking console, but you can also play GameCube ones. Pack up your GameCube, boys, you won’t need it for awhile if you buy this product. This console features a four-GameCube controller slot, with two additional slots dedicated to GameCube memory cards. Above all this, there are many attachments for your current Wii-Motes including the Wii-Wheel for Mario Kart, and the Nunchucks. These features allow you to use your Wii-Mote on Wii games like Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, and the newest Legend of Zelda game, Skyward Sword.

Don’t get too worried fellow gamers, you can still use your trusty GameCube controller on the above except Skyward Sword. That game was made specifically for the nunchucks and Wii-Motes.

Aside from these techy yada-yadas, the Nintendo Wii features the Nintendo Store on it with Wifi capabilities, to buy your favorite childhood games such as Kirby, Mario Party, and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Forget having to blow that N64 cartridge, purchase yourself an SD card, pop it into the slot, loosen your wallet and enjoy your favorite games!

TL;DR I couldn’t be more pleased with this system. I grew up in the age of Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, where we played video games for 10 hours a day sitting on our butts. With this new system, get off the tushie and go play games like Just Dance or Wii Fitness. You won’t regret it, and you will enjoy it.
