Smash Hit Is A Hit Among Players

Latest game to get us addicted on iOS and Android is the new Smash Hit!
This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

Smash Hit by Mediocre, available to play on iOS and Android devices, is the latest hit among players. The game is free-to-play or has a premium version for $1.99, which allows cloud saves and synchronization on all devices.

The game describes itself as “a surreal journey through otherworldly dimension, move in harmony with sound and music and smash everything in your path!”

The description is right on cue. It’s a futuristic look with really nice and relaxing techno music that I could listen to during a nice drive with the top down. The music in Smash Hit is synchronized to the gameplay; it changes to each stage throughout and the obstacles move to the music as well.

“…a surreal journey through otherworldly dimension, move in harmony with sound and music and smash everything in your path!”

Smash Hit is easy in its concept. You’re given these metal balls and you need to smash these glass objects–that’s it. The sound of glass-breaking is very realistic. The glass comes in many shapes, even resembling a DNA strand which I thought was really cool. The game features 50 different rooms with 11 different graphic styles and realistic glass-breaking mechanics in every stage.

Now back to “easy concept.” As I said before, you’re given these metal balls to smash glass objects with, but what I didn’t say is that you’re given only a certain amount. It’s up to you on how you use them before you run out. I, of course, figured that out the hard way by running out.

Once you hit the start button, the game begins with 25 balls in your possession.

Don’t worry if you have to walk away, because the game has cloud save ability. You’re immersed in its world and you start by tapping on the objects you want to hit. Timing is key – if you press too early, you may miss the object for falling short on the distance; if you press too late, you may miss the object entirely and/or the very next object. You need to pay attention to the entire screen as objects can be cleverly hidden. Smashing an object helps with replenishing balls used and your score.

The game measures your score not on just successful smashes, but also the distance you’ve traveled.

Smashing crystals grants you three extra balls, hitting 10 crystals in a row grants you multiballs, and if you hit the green circle, you receive a one-time “rapid fire” bonus use of multiple balls that doesn’t count against your overall ball count. Don’t miss your chance to hit those EVER! Hitting an object will cost you 10 balls, so avoid doing so. When coming up towards a door, make sure to hit the button with a ball or OUCH, a cost of 10 balls! The game is slow, then gets really fast and you need to react accordingly.

I’ll put it this way, the furthest I’ve gotten is Level 3 with a distance score of 3347!

Common questions asked:
  • When restarting from a checkpoint, how many balls will I have? Answer: Whenever you pass a checkpoint, your best ball count and multiplier is saved.
  • If I have premium on one device, can I get it on others? Answer: Yes, just hit “restore purchase.”
  • Is game progress synchronized across my different devices? Answer: Yes, but again, you need premium for it. There is no way to synchronize progress between an iOS and Android device, sorry.

For more tips, I’ll be adding on the further I play the game but please leave any that you may have to share in the comments.

Happy smashing!!
