Two Dots is quickly reaching the top of the App Store charts and is the sequel of the popular Dots app that came out last year. Dots has two main systems of scoring, one being time based and the other being move based. In the first you have to clear the dots before the time runs out, in the latter you have a determined amount of moves to clear the dots.
Scoring is Different Than the First
Two Dots scoring is on the number of moves you have to complete the level. As you progress, each level gets harder making you clear more dots. The dots are of multiple colors and the difficulty the dots’ arrangement increases as you advance in the game.
If you do not clear the goal number of dots of each color in the required moves then you either start over or buy extra moves. Some players may like this style of play or some may stick to the original Dots game to play against the clock – it really depends on the person as the game is well made either way.
Players also have a fixed number of lives. As they move along the trail that is before them, if they lost all their lives they have to start back at round one. Your lives disappear for failing to hit the target of dots or if you quit a level, so play wisely!
Levels are Designed Well and Improve on the Original Design
This sequel really improves the design of the first game by making it smoother and more pleasant to look at. If you liked the 30 moves mode on Dots then you will be happy with this new upgrade.
Each level builds on to the next and obstacles are added to make it even more difficult to find the right combination. It’s a logical progression and makes you keep coming back to experience the differences.
In-App Purchases
There are in-app purchases for power-ups to help you gain more moves, lives, or just score some extra points. This is a free-to-play app so the option is nice but it’s definitely not something you have to do to play the game.
Overall it’s a very fun game to try for those who have never played the Dots games before and for those who want a refreshing new look to the game they’ve grown to love on their phone.
Two Dots is available now on the App Store for iOS. The app is coming to Android devices sometime in the future as well.
