Those interested in speedruns and seeing skilled players break their favorite games may have had their eye on Speed Demos Archive’s Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2014 over the past week, but those not so interested may be surprised by how many donations the stream garnered for the Prevent Cancer Foundation in 6 days: over $1 million.
AGDQ’s officially ‘ended’ last night, tallying up approximately $1,007,000 at the time of the event’s official closure. Today has been a bonus for viewers and speedrunners alike, with the stream still going strong (albeit more quiet) in its true final day of running. The donation total at the time of writing is over $1,012,000.
This year’s AGDQ has been a flurry of excitement. Games old and new have been brought to their knees, and donations big and small donated to the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Even Minecraft‘s Notch made a bit of an appearance, putting in the stream’s largest donation of $10,000.
This year’s stream has raised more than double of AGDQ 2013, and just maybe next year’s stream will do even better. Take a look at the stream’s Run Index to see the games that were played and their special requirements or why they were on the lineup.
See you next year, AGDQ! Truly, it has been a pleasure.
