Destiny 2: How to Complete the All Hands Challenge

Learn how to complete the All Hands challenge in the Destiny 2 Root of Nightmares Raid with the tips in this guide.

The All Hands Challenge is the fourth and final challenge in Destiny 2’s Root of Nightmares Raid. It’s also one of its toughest. Your whole team will need to understand the mechanics of the Nezerec boss fight to properly complete it, though there is a best way to do so. We’ll cover it in this guide, so you can complete one of the final obstacles to mastering the Lightfall Raid and earning the Dream Warrior Title.

How to Complete the All Hands Challenge in the Destiny 2 Root of Nightmares Raid

The All Hands challenge requires every member of your fireteam to activate both a Light and Dark node before each DPS phase in the Nezerec boss fight.

That means everyone needs to have at least some idea of how running the nodes in the encounter works. You’ll also need to be aware of the swarms of adds and keeping Nezerec’s Hatred in check.

Here is the main way to complete the challenge.

All Hands Three Swap Method

For this strategy, you assign three members of the fireteam to a set of nodes on either side.

In this instance, the Guardian on the Dark side who starts the chain would be Dark one, and his counterpart would be Light one. Alternately, you can assign each Guardian a number from one to six and assign odds and evens to both sides.

Once the encounter starts, each player on a side shoots their respective nodes in sequence, then the person in charge of taking Nezerec’s Hatred calls out which refuge you’ll be taking. After completing the first three nodes, take refuge from the wipe mechanic, and everyone swaps sides.

The process now repeats with nodes four through six. If you do it right, Nezerec will enter his damage phase, and you will need to complete the challenge mechanics again.

One thing to note: the timing for activating the nodes is particularly tight, and you’ll need to activate the sixth node on each side essentially simultaneously. Some players report that you also need to keep the same order of players activating their nodes to ensure the challenge completes successfully.

You can complete the All Hands Challenge on normal and Master difficulties, though Master awards two Adept weapons instead of one. Don’t worry if this challenge takes a few tries to get right, as it’s pretty removed from how most teams usually do this encounter. We’ve covered other challenges in the Root of Nightmares Raid here, including Crossfire and Cosmic Equilibrium.
