FFXIV Amdapor Keep Guide Part One Psycheflayer

A guide for Psycheflayer the first boss of Amdapor Keep.
This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information

This is part one of a three part guide of Final Fantasy XIV’s Amdapor Keep. Since Square Enix is cracking down on the suicide run strategy there is no longer anything to cover up to and between the boss fights. The first boss of Amdapor Keep is pretty simple once you know what you’re doing, and is the easiest of the three bosses in the dungeon.

Fight Start

The fight starts out against a Lunatic Priest, which will summon Psycheflayer at 50%. The new monster is the actual boss of the room, the Lunatic Priest just needs to be burned down once it’s summoned. At this point DPS should pop all their cooldowns on the Priest to finish him fast while the tank pulls the boss over to the wall by the dungeon entrance.

Main Focus

Once the Priest is dead the DPS can start working down the boss, who will start to summon Marble Marionette mobs. The DPS will need to burn the Marionettes down asap, while making sure to stun Obliterate so it doesn’t hit the tank or healer. At approximately 50% health the boss will summon a giant version of the Marionettes. This one is not to be fought: if you get caught in its AoE, you’re dead. When it reaches the center of the room it will do a room wide AoE with a very slim safe area against the wall. While hiding in that safe area you will still need to continue killing the normal Marionettes so don’t forget about them.

Wrap Up

Once the room wide AoE is over it’s just a downhill battle against little Marionettes and the actual boss. As long as you remain focused at this point you should be fine. There is no need to use the Limit Break for this fight, but you can if you want since the suicide run strategy is no longer valid.
