With Smash Hit skyrocketing to the top of the mobile market, many people are competing to see who can last the longest through this metal-swinging, fan-spinning, and crystal-daunting obstacle course.
The whole point of the game is survival. Participants are welcomed to last as long as they can, plunging through the depths of a never-ending series of obstructions without being able to move at all.
In fact, your only object of defense is a series of marbles which you can tap to shoot out at these hindrances in hope to blast them away from your person and clear your way.
1. Focus On Hitting Early Crystals
Veterans will already know that smashing crystals will give you 3 more balls. Since running out of balls means the game is over, I would highly suggest that the crystals are your main concern.
If you smash multiple crystals in a row, you will earn a score multipler. Even better, hitting 10 in a row earns you a multiball meaning you will fire more marbles with one tap than normal.
The rest of the game will consequently become easier when you have 5 marbles blasting through whatever’s in your way. Be careful, however, because missing or crashing into objects will eliminate your multiplier.
2. Use Two Hands
By setting your device flat on a service, you are allowing yourself the ability to use both hands to tap the screen, thus increasing your reaction time.
Not to mention it’s much easier to reach crystals and objects on opposite sides of the screen.
If you’re a bit jumpy (I admit to nothing), sometimes glass falling towards your face on a string is a little offputting. This feeling goes away as you continue playing and gain more confidence and focus.
3. Don’t Be Overzealous While Breaking Panels
There’s so much to break; must resist smashing things.
There’s something about shattering glass that brings out the maniacal side in all of us. While demolishing apparatuses is soothing (much like the phenomenon of bubble wrap), you’re better off conserving your marbles than flailing them wildly to break as much glass as you can.
By assuming the “2 Ball Rule,” you are pledging you only use a maximum of 2 balls to break anything standing in your way. By smashing holes in the middle of the panel, you can pave a cost-effective way to move onward.
4. Aim For The Weak Points
As you progress through the game, you’ll be encountering many different mechanisms blacking your trail to success. Consequently, each one possesses an Achille’s heel for you to target and defeat with ease.
Glass on a String
Yep, you guessed it! Aim for the string here and you can stop wasting time trying to use the marbles to sway it out of your way and just eliminate it instead.
Lasers Generators
Rather than wincing and accepting your fate, lasers can be taken out by aiming for the glass generating them. The closer you are the easier it is to hit!
Swinging Hammers
By hitting the handles of the hammers instead of the hammer itself you can break it in half and save yourself from a poor, marble-less fate.
5. If It’s Not In Your Way, Ignore It
By conserving marbles for only objects directly in your way, you can rescue yourself from impending doom while still salvaging as many of your little, round weapons as possible.
It’s incredibly easy to panic and assume that most everything on your screen is coming directly for you, but by relaxing and assessing each situation first, you’ll realize that not everything is out to get you.
Sometimes the swinging glass will narrowly miss the center, leaving you with an anxiety attack, but more marbles than you’d have otherwise.
6. Aim For As Many Powerups As Possible
In this game, powerups offer the player an easy out of almost any situation. Granted, the timing of the powerup is possibly even more important. By using these scapegoats at the opportune time, you can optimize their effect and ultimately your score.
Unlimited Rapid Fire
This powerup gives you a never-ending slew of marbles that automatically fire until you take your finger off the screen. This powerup should be used to hit as many crystals as possible before it runs out to induce a multiplier bonus and give you access to more marbles.
Slowing Down Time
This powerup makes the game run much slower, giving you plenty of time to react to the quickest of situations. This is perfect for hitting the weak spots of the harder obstacles mentioned above.
Exploding Marbles
This powerup turns your marbles into exploding time bombs that erupt when coming into contact with any obstacle. These are perfect for the largest structures in the game such as glass panels and pipes taking up the entire screen.
7. Improve Your Aim From Far Away
If you aim high enough, you can hit mostly anything from the furthest point away. By getting all of the crystals in your line of sight out of the way, you can focus on getting everything else out of your way as the game progresses.
8. Wait Until Bigger Objects Are Closer
Trying to predict where a moving obstacle will be when you get to it is near impossible, and not to mention completely unnecessary.
By removing the crystals and other small targets earlier from far away, you can easily move through glass panels by waiting until the last possible second and firing a way through.
9. Kill Two Birds With One Stone
By timing correctly, with the equally precise angle, you can bank the ball off one obtrusion to another, eliminating both with one ball. If you hit a crystal, the ball continues to fly forward, enabling the ability to hit more than one if they are lined up properly.
10. Cough Up Some Money
While Smash Hit is free to play, paying $1.99 for the premium version will unlock starting from checkpoints rather than the beginning. This way you don’t have to start over if you lose, enabling players to capitalize on impressive starts.
