All Farm Animals in Fields of Mistria (& How to Get Them)

Fields of Mistria features eight types of animals to raise at your farm during Early Access, from traditional cows and chickens to slightly more surprising capybaras and alpacas. Skip ahead with the quick links below to find all the care details for a specific animal or stick around for the complete overview.

Chickens

Chickens are among the first animals you can house at your farmstead in Fields of Mistria. There are three standard colorations to choose from at 1,000 Tesserae each: brown, spotted, and white. You’ll find chickens for sale at Hayden’s shop from the start of your playthrough.

Like several other farm animals available in the game, male and female chickens provide different materials and food items for crafting and cooking. If you’re looking to collect eggs for baking purposes, you’ll want to purchase a female chicken. For rooster feathers, opt for a male chicken (or rooster).

Cows

Cows are another type of farm animal available from the start of Fields of Mistria. You can raise three kinds of cows: Black, Brown, or Spotted. Again, there’s no price difference from one color pattern to the next, so you can expect to spend 2,000 Tesserae on a cow of any color at Hayden’s shop.

Cows provide different materials depending on their gender. When it comes to raising your first cow, you’ll want to choose a female, as it will drop milk regularly and provide you with the resources you need to make food items like cheese. Male cows (or bulls) instead produce bull horns.

They’re among the most expensive animals at 2,300 Tesserae each, and they come in three colorways: Champagne, Sandy Bay, and Spotted. However, both male and female horses will provide you with horse hair, so you don’t need to purchase more than one unless you’re looking to breed for new color patterns.

Small barn and coop blueprints are sold at the Carpenter’s shop from the start of Fields of Mistria. Both structures come in red and white colorways, though the palette doesn’t affect the price. Each structure houses up to four animals.

Following the completion of Hayden’s barn and coop upgrades, you’ll gain access to the same facilities to build on your farm. Again, both come in red and white colorways, but you’ll now have the space to house up to eight animals per building. You’re also looking at price and material increases for the upgrades.
