Animal Crossing: New Horizons gives you plenty of options with which to produce bells (the regional currency of the Animal Crossing universe) and eventually usurp that jerk Tom Nook.
Just kidding, of course: Tom Nook will own your little island for the rest of eternity.
But that doesn’t mean you have to live and die a pauper! Here’s our guide on how to find and use Bell Vouchers, a useful tool for quickly accumulating bells — if you have the Nook Miles to spare, of course.
How to Find and Use Bell Vouchers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
First of all, you might be wondering what Bell Vouchers even are in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. These are vouchers that you can purchase from the Nook Stop (the ATM-like vending machine in the shop) by spending Nook Miles.
Once you have a Bell Voucher, you can redeem it for bells. There is one little problem, however. Before you can even start picking these Bell Vouchers up, you need to reach a certain point in the development of your town.
Upgrading Residential Services
Here’s what you need to have accomplished in Animal Crossing: New Horizons before you can even start buying Bell Vouchers from the Nook Stop:
- Spend 5,000 Nook Miles or 48,000 bells to pay off your Deserted Island Getaway Package.
- Spend 98,000 bells to upgrade your tent into an actual House.
- Give Timmy 30 Wood, 30 Hardwood, 30 Softwood, and 30 Iron Nuggets to build the Nook’s Cranny shop.
- Build a bridge to open more space for more villagers.
- Designate three more housing plots for three more villagers, at a rate of one new villager per real-world day.
- Wait for Tom Nook to announce the Upgraded Resident Services building, then wait a real-world day for it to be completed.
After you’ve accomplished these necessary steps, you can buy Bell Vouchers from the Nook Stop for 500 Nook Miles a pop.
When you’ve acquired some Bell Vouchers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, speak to Timmy or Tommy to redeem your aforementioned Bell Vouchers for 3,000 bells each.
You can find the two characters in the Nook’s Cranny shop between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m.
