With the original game being phased out, you might need to check your PC specs before taking the plunge to buy the new version of Ark. We’ll go over the Ark: Survival Ascended system requirements in this guide, in case you’re unsure you can run it.
Ark: Survival Ascended System Requirements Explained
Survival Ascended upgrades the visuals from Survival Evolved by moving up to Unreal Engine 5. Visuals in UE5 look great, but they can be tasking on your system. In general, any game on Unreal Engine 5 is going to have heftier requirements than on its predecessor.
Ark: Survival Ascended Minimum System Requirements
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X or Intel i7-6800K
- RAM: 16GB
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT or Nvidia GeForce 1080
- Operating System: Windows 10 or 11
- Storage Space: 70GB (with an SSD)
While the minimum GPU requirement is rather low, the game’s current optimization makes it difficult to run on an RX 5600 XT or GeForce 1080. You may have to reduce the resolution to prevent the game from crashing when playing using an older video card.
Ark: Survival Ascended Recommended System Requirements
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X or Intel i5-10600K
- RAM: 32GB
- GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6800 or Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080
- Operating System: Windows 10 or 11
- Storage Space: 70GB (with an SSD)
You’ll also notice that you need an SSD to play the game. I haven’t heard about how it runs on an HDD, but it’s probably safe to assume you’ll run into at least texture loading issues when using an HDD instead of an SSD. If you haven’t moved onto an SSD for your general gaming yet, it’s about time since the faster read/write speed is becoming mandatory.
You’ll end up getting the game if you’re a long-time Ark addict and want its addictive multiplayer dino-taming gameplay loop back, but the Ark: Survival Ascended system requirements are nothing to scoff at with its actual optimization in mind. Look for more guides for the game here on GameSkinny.
