Baldur’s Gate 3: How to Complete Find a Cure

No one cries in Baldur's Gate 3, especially when people keep stabbing out their eyes.

You’ll definitely want to know how to Find a Cure in Baldur’s Gate 3. This is a major quest in the campaign, with overarching objectives that you can tackle as you progress. While there’s only one outcome due to the narrative, seeing the other options is certainly worthwhile. Likewise, please be reminded that this article contains spoilers.

How to Complete Find a Cure in Baldur’s Gate 3

The Baldur’s Gate 3 Find a Cure quest begins in earnest, knowing that you and your teammates have a tadpole lodged in your brains. Many NPCs will talk about their own expertise, and some will lead to rather suspicious results. I’ve listed down all the choices I’ve encountered while playing.

Find a Cure: Major Arcs

The Githyanki Creche

Your companion Lae’zel keeps insisting that the Githyanki can help you find a cure in Baldur’s Gate 3. This involves the following:

  • Meeting the Githyanki Patrol in the Risen Road.
  • Heading to Creche Y’llek in Rosymorn Monastery.
  • Discovering that the Githyanki queen and deity isn’t really looking to aid you. In fact, she just wants to devour Lae’zel due to her prowess in battle.

I personally disliked this quest, mostly because Lae’zel’s attitude didn’t jive well with the rest of my party members. Likewise, I felt that the conclusion was unsatisfactory.

Rescue the Druid Halsin

If you talk to the people in Druid Grove, they’ll keep mentioning the Archdruid Halsin. This entails the following tasks:

  • Druid NPCs like Nettie say that only Halsin knows of such a cure.
  • You must rescue Halsin in the Druid Grove, and then defeat the leaders of the goblin army.
  • If Minthara’s army marches to the camp, you have to defend the Tiefling refugees.
  • When Halsin joins your camp, he’ll talk about a possible cure, but you have to go to Moonrise Towers.

Raphel’s Proposal

As you explore the areas in the first act, you’ll encounter a fella’ by the name of Raphael. Soon, he’ll make you a deal as part of the Baldur’s Gate 3 Find a Cure objective:

  • Raphael will take you to his domain, where you’ll learn that he’s a devil.
  • Later, he says that he might have a way to remove the tadpole in your brain, but that will cost you.

Find a Cure: Minor Arcs

High Priestess Gut

One of the leaders of the goblin army is High Priestess Gut. You can convince her that you’re truly loyal to the Cult of the Absolute, and she’ll have you drink a brew. Depending on your chosen race, your character would instantly fight her, or you’ll end up imprisoned. If it’s the latter, one of Raphael’s assassins will eliminate Gut, allowing you to escape.

Auntie Ethel

Auntie Ethel might look like an old lady when you meet her in the Druid Grove. But, if you head to the Putrid Bog, you’ll realize that she’s a hag or a swamp witch, and she’s also kidnapped a woman named Mayrina.

If you don’t tell Mayrina about the deaths of her brothers, Auntie Ethel proposes that she can get rid of the tadpole. She’ll poke out your eye, which gives you the Hag-Eyed passive. You might gain a bonus to Intimidation, but you’re also penalized.

Volo the Bard

You can rescue Volo the Bard in the Goblin Camp. When he heads to your base, he claims that he can help you find a cure in Baldur’s Gate 3. The cure is his own purported expertise in surgery.

I found this to be one of the funniest moments in the game. I laughed as Volo bumbled around while stabbing my character’s eye. It led to a point where I cringed, because my character could only talk in gibberish due to Volo’s botched operation. At the very least, I did gain a permanent Detect Invisibility passive.

Omeluum the Mind Flayer

You’ll meet Omeluum in the Myconid Colony in the Underdark. I was surprised, at first, upon seeing that he’s a friendly Mind Flayer. In any case, he wants you to obtain Timmask Spores and Tongue of Madness, which can only be found in the Arcane Tower. Once you hand over the herbs, Omeluum will realize that the tadpole has been tampered with, and that there’s nothing he could do.

Find a Cure Conclusion

The Baldur’s Gate 3 Find a Cure quest is concluded at the tail end of Act 2. There, you see the Chosen of the Dead Three: Lord Gortash (Bane), Orin the Red (Bhaal), and Ketheric Thorm (Myrkul).

The three are controlling an Elder Brain, one that has the power to turn those corrupted by an Illithid tadpole into enslaved Mind Flayers. You’re not just dealing with the Cult of the Absolute, but people who’ve been blessed by the dark gods.

That’s all you need to know about how to find a cure in Baldur’s Gate 3. The remedy is neither a concoction nor a surgical operation on your eye. It’s the total defeat of a malevolent force. For more tips and tactics, visit our BG3 guides hub.
