Anything can happen in Baldur’s Gate 3, and some things are pulled right out of a horror movie. Here’s, it’s Invasion of the Body Snatchers. One of your companions isn’t who they seem to be. As a gesture of good faith, Gortash informs you that Orin has taken the place of one of your compatriots. As Astarion points out, it’s impossible to figure out when the group is full of weirdos. Here’s how to find the Doppelganger at Camp in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How to Find the Doppelganger at Camp in Baldur’s Gate 3
Orin can replace any party member who’s been left at camp during this period of time. She can also replace NPCs in Rivington or Yenna at your camp.
Cat or no Cat? Check on Yenna First
Unfortunately, Orin’s good at what she does. It’s nearly impossible to figure out who she’s impersonating. Talking with your companions over and over doesn’t help you make any progress. It seems like there’s no way to figure out which NPC she’s replaced at this point. The exception is Yenna.
- If Orin is impersonating her, her cat will be missing. Then, you speak with Orin to reveal her identity.
- Otherwise, the cat will be alone with Yenna gone, meaning Orin is somebody else.
Wait for Orin to Come to You
The good news is that Orin reveals herself to you. After a handful of long rests, she approaches you with the same offer as Gortash. Kill him and work with her instead. Aside from this not being a good deal overall and the fact that you fight her no matter what, it means that you need to rescue your missing companion.
Now that you know who’s missing, you can side with Orin and get them back immediately. Otherwise, you search for the Temple of Bhaal. Head there and retrieve your companion before Orin decides to kill them out of impatience.
And that’s how to find the Doppelganger at Camp in Baldur’s Gate 3. Opposite of a lot of quests, the answers for this one essentially come to you if you wait a few in-game nights.
