Spiders aren’t usually friendly in games, but there are a few instances in this one where they can be. One such instance is very early on, even before you reach the Blighted Village and eventual Goblin Camp. In this guide, we’ll go over how to get and use the Spider Egg Sac Baldur’s Gate 3.
How to Get the Spider Egg Sac in Baldur’s Gate 3
You can get the Spider Egg Sac right after you leave through the front gate to Emerald Grove. Exit the grove and hang a right as if you’re progressing toward the Blighted Village. Just past the turn is a ledge you can jump up. I’ve included an image of the ledge and its map location below.
It’s a multi-step traversal to get up to the spiders, though it’s fairly easy to notice and follow. Regardless, here are the steps to getting up there:
- Hop up the ledge where the circle is in the above map image.
- Walk forward a bit, then climb up the Cragged Rock in the wall just ahead.
- The last step is to climb the ladder you’ll see a bit ahead.
Once you’ve reached the peak, walk forward for a Perception check to notice the Rocky Crevice. You’ll want to quick save before you interact with it, just in case.
The spiders are cautious of you for good reason. They’ve got a sac you’ll want to grab for yourself, though, so you need to try to make friends with them.. somewhat. You’ll be engaged in two sets of rolls here. Failing the roll in the first portion of the interaction won’t make the spiders aggressive, and you’ll still be able to progress to the next step: calming the spiders and snatching the sac.
When presented with the option to soothe the spiders or snatch the bag, try to soothe them with the Animal Handling option first to lower the DC on the Sleight of Hand option. Though, you can just skip the Animal Handling one and just do the Sleight of Hand one if you’re feeling confident or dealing with the interaction using Astarion.
How to Use the Spider Egg Sac in BG3
Stealing from the spiders will land two Pouches in your inventory. Sort by “Latest” to pull it to the top of your inventory quickly. Open them, and you’ll find one Spider Egg Sac within the first.
You can use the Spider Egg Sac by dropping it on the ground and hitting it. This will spawn give Crag Spiders, who will follow you literally until their deaths, their little 6 HP bodies the perfect cannon fodder for an overwhelming encounter. I recommend holding onto them for the Goblin Camp, but they won’t be of much use in Act 2 or 3.
That’s all you need to know about how to get and use the Spider Egg Sac in Baldur’s Gate 3, as well as how to use them. For more help with the game, check out our massive list BG3 guides.
