Perhaps the only Legendary Shield you’ll come across, this one requires a fight to obtain. This one can be grabbed early in Act 3, as long as you do the quest objectives leading up to it. Here’s how to get Viconia’s Walking Fortress in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How to Get Viconia’s Walking Fortress for Baldur’s Gate 3
This item is tied to Shadowheart’s companion quests. You won’t be able to get it if you don’t have her recruited, or if she died along the way and hasn’t been brought back.
Bonuses from Viconia’s Walking Fortress
This shield is nothing short of amazing. Viconia’s Walking Fortress lets you:
- Use a reaction to deal damage and possibly knock a melee attacker prone if they don’t pass a Dexterity Saving Throw.
- Receive Advantage on Spell Saving Throws while giving attackers Disadvantage on Spell Attacks against you.
- Gives you free uses of Reflective Shell and Warding Bond.
Meet the Sharran Lookout
First, find the Sharran Lookout in Rivington. The next section triggers only after speaking with him. After that, you find the House of Grief in Lower City. It’s to the east of the Baldur’s Gate Waypoint. The Sharrans might not be happy to see Shadowheart depending on your choice with the Nightsong, but you meet Viconia either way.
Fight Viconia and the Sharrans
Viconia gives you the option to hand Shadowheart over to her in return for the Sharrans’ help against the Netherbrain. However, this removes Shadowheart from your group entirely and you can’t get her back after that. As such, it probably isn’t a deal you want to take.
In that case, you want to fight Viconia and the Sharrans. It’s not an easy fight, but having abilities like Moonbeam, Sunbeam, and anything that creates magical light or disrupts magical darkness makes it much more bearable. After finishing the battle, collect your loot and take Viconia’s shield.
And that’s how to get Viconia’s Walking Fortress in Baldur’s Gate 3. It’s a great item for a tank, especially if you want to increase their damage output a bit with the reaction bonus. From here, check our BG3 guide hub for more topics like how to get the Helldusk Armor or how to get Nyrulna.
