Having dogs in video games that you can travel with is a great feature. While Scratch holds the title of the most famous good boy in Faerûn, the game features other hounds, as well. Unfortunately, not every canine is lucky enough to be alive when you find them. As such, here’s how to resurrect Rocky, Zina, and Gordis at Durinbold Mausoleum in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How to Resurrect Rocky, Zina, and Gordis at Durinbold Mausoleum in Baldur’s Gate 3
Rocky, Zina, and Gordis are entombed with Houndmaster Pol in the mausoleum, with plenty of toys in their coffins to keep them busy in the afterlife.
Go to Baldur’s Gate’s Graveyard
You find Baldur’s Gate’s graveyard on the northern part of the map. If you follow the path between Devil’s Fee and Forge of the Nine, you arrive right at the entrance. Putting your cursor over the doors tells you which mausoleum is which, and the Durinbold one is tucked in the southeast corner of the graveyard.
Lockpick Open Durinbold Mausoleum
Lockpick the door and head inside the mausoleum. You find a set of sarcophagi for three dogs (Rocky, Zina, and Gordis) and Houndmaster Pol. With a Strength Check, you can open them and loot the bodies along with toys. However, there isn’t much use in doing so. Unless you want 42 balls from the middle sarcophagus.
Steal the Scroll of Animal Friendship
The only way to bring these dogs back is by stealing the Scroll of Animal Friendship from the bookshelves by the hole in the wall. This summons the spirits of Rocky, Zina, Gordis, and their master, Pol. However, you can’t use the scroll to stop them from attacking because they’re undead and not beasts. Also, killing Pol leads to the dog spirits running to his remains and dying with him. All around, it’s depressing.
Then, if you took the dog bodies with you, you can’t resurrect them, use Speak with Dead on them, or bring them back in a meaningful way. As such, let them rest in peace with their master and the abundance of toys they were buried with.
Unfortunately, that’s all for how to resurrect Rocky, Zina, and Gordis at Durinbold Mausoleum in Baldur’s Gate 3. It’d be great if a future update changed this so that you can have more dogs at your camp instead of only being able to bring back their hostile spirits, But for now, check our BG3 guide hub for other topics like how to get the Amulet of the Devout or how to get the Elegant Studded Leather.
