Whether your party’s faces are stained by blood and mud or clown makeup, you might be wondering how to remove these visual effects. The former is all about a nice wash while the latter is a bug. Here’s how to wash and clean your face in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How to Wash and Clean Your Face in Baldur’s Gate 3
In case you’ve been fighting a lot and your character’s face is all bloody or stained by mud, fear not! You can clean them. You’ll need water to do so, which is luckily available everywhere in numerous shapes and sizes. Here are some common ways to clean yourself:
- Walk into a Body of Water: Simply walking into a body of water, whether it’s a puddle, a river, or the ocean, will remove your stains and clean your face.
- Water Bottle: Throwing a water bottle on a bloody or muddy character will also clean them up.
- Create or Destroy Water: If you’re a Cleric or Druid, you can prepare the Create or Destroy Water spell and cast it to achieve the same effect as the previous entries.
As you can see, giving a character wet conditions instantly cleans them, even if it’s just for a moment. I would also recommend equipping and unequipping the Reverse Rain Cloak. That’s another easy way to clean characters.

How to Remove Clown Makeup in Baldur’s Gate 3
If the clown makeup from the carnival scenario isn’t disappearing from your character’s face after a long rest, this is a bug. Fortunately, it can be easily fixed. Simply purchase another instance of the clown makeup from a merchant and reapply it to the wanted character. Go to your camp and take another long rest which should remove the paint.
I would recommend interacting with the camp with the character whose face is painted. Rinse and repeat for all other characters to fully remove the makeup.
