Karmic Dice lower the RNG of dice rolls, preventing too many consecutive failed rolls and consecutive winning rolls. They’re turned on by default, but they can be turned off. Depending on how you feel about the system or DnD in general, you may want to tweak these settings. In essence, it’s steering your campaign more into the middle of the road to make things less dependent on RNG.

Should You Turn Karmic Dice On or Off?

Should you turn Karmic Dice on or off? It depends. Most players will want to keep Karmic Dice on. If you’re a DnD purest, though, you’ll want to leave them on.

  • You’ll be rolling a ton of dice, and it’s very possible to fail rolls repeatedly. Getting 10 consecutive winning rolls sounds great until you’re on the opposite side of the coin and get 10 failures. Keep the setting on to avoid this. There’s a reason it’s on by default.
  • If you’re a hardcore tabletop player and believe in the power of the roll, turn Karmic Dice off and sally forth! There’s something to be said for the experience of truly random rolls, even if that experience isn’t for everyone.
