Best Barbarian Gear Pieces in Baldur’s Gate 3 and How to Get Them

Become your best Conan self with our best Barbarian gear in Baldur's Gate 3.

Besides weapons, there are a lot of magic items in BG3 that synergize perfectly with Barbarians. I wanted to list some of the best ones that give them mobility, retaliate damage, or gain benefits from taking damage or Raging. Here’s my best Barbarian gear in Baldur’s Gate 3.

What are the Best Barbarian Gear Pieces in Baldur’s Gate 3?

Best Barbarian Armor in BG3

Barbarians benefit more from clothing than armor since they can add their Constitution to AC while unarmored. Luckily, there are plenty of powerful clothing options with effects that synergize with the Barbarian playstyle. I found the following set the best for any Barbarian: Bloodguzzler Garb, The Mighty Cloth, Shelter of Athkatla, Inferna Robe, Enraging Heart Garb, Bonespike Garb.

The Bloodguzzler Garb provides a melee damage boost when someone hits you, and you can loot it from the Bulette mini-boss in the Underdark. The Mighty Cloth gives you +2 Strength boost and a permanent Bull Strength spell that’s always active while wearing it. You’re also immovable against your will. Buy it from Talli in the Last Light Inn.

Shelter of Athkatla: Gives you Advantage on saving throws against all spells, which I highly recommend since late-game enemies like Mindflayers attack your Intelligence the most. You can also cast Mirror Image, which is a neat defensive spell that you can cast before you Rage since it doesn’t require concentration. Loot it from Lorroakan in Ramazith’s Tower.

The Infernal Robe is another clothing piece with a non-concentration spell you can cast before you Rage. You get Fire Shield to retaliate fire damage on attacks, and the robe also gives you AC +1 and Fire damage resistance. That said, this was a highly inaccessible item for me since you need to kill Karlach through Wyll’s quest. If that’s not a problem for you, go for it. It’s really powerful.

The Enraging Heart Garb stacks melee damage boosts and also a general +2 to Constitution as long as you Rage. Buy it from Lann Tarv the Bugbear on the ground floor of Moonrise Towers. Finally, the Bonespike Garb. I used this in the late-game and it’s one of the most powerful Barbarian “armor” sets. You get a flat 15 temporary HP when you Rage, and you reduce all incoming damage by 2. Additionally, attackers take your Con mod in damage. You can buy it from Exxvikyap the Dragonborn at the Rivington General as soon as you enter Act 3.

Best Barbarian Gloves in BG3

For gloves, I use Legacy of the Masters. These boost your damage and attack rolls by +2 with a +1 Strength saving throw boost. I love the attack roll boost since it offsets the Great Weapon Master feat penalty. Buy them from Dammon at the Forge of the Nine in the Lower City of Baldur’s Gate.

You can also get Helldusk Gloves. Miscellaneous magical effects aside, these give you +1d6 fire damage on all melee attacks. Loot them from Haarlep in the House of Hope. I used the Flawed version throughout Act 2 that you can get from Dammon in Last Light by giving him some Infernal Iron. I also recommend the Bonespike Gloves. Since the Barbarian’s main goal is melee damage that’s mostly slashing, piercing, and bludgeoning, it sucks when a create has resistance against those. Bonespike Gloves allow you to ignore these resistances and you can loot them from Strangler Luke in the Undercity Ruins.

Best Barbarian Helmets in BG3

As for helmets, I use the Haste Helm. It’s best early-game option for Barbarians that boosts your movement speed at the start of combat. Loot them from the chest by the cart in the middle of the Blighted Village in Act 1. Later, I move to Horns of the Berserker. They’re incredibly powerful with the Great Weapon Master feat, giving you a +2 to attack rolls on damaged enemies.

Your attacks also deal +2 Necrotic damage but you take 1d4 Necrotic damage if you don’t deal any damage on your turn. I recommend hammer-style weapons since their Tenacity skill guarantees you’ll deal at least some damage. Buy them in the Danthelon’s Dancing Axe. Lastly, try the Bonespike Helmet, which deals some AoE Psychic damage when you Rage. More importantly, it gives you the Menacing Attack maneuver once per turn to Frighten enemies, which is quite powerful as a reliable CC option scaling with Strength. Buy it from Voiceless Penitent Bareki in the Undercity Ruins.

Best Barbarian Cloak in BG3

The best Barbarian cloak that you can get decently early in the game is the Fleshmelter Cloak. It deals 1d4 Acid damage to attackers each time they hit you which will be a lot due to Reckless Attack. Loot it from the gilded chest in the House of Healing Morgue at the start of Act 2.

Best Barbarian Boots in BG3

Boots are an important magic item for Barbarians outside of weapons and armor since they give you more mobility options to close the distance. I found that the following options offer the best movement abilities that work while Raging. Boots of Speed double your movement speed with a Bonus Action. Either received from Thulla as a reward for curing her in the Myconid Village or purchased from her.

Bonespike Boots are another great choice. You get +1 AC and a saving throw boost. Your jump distance increases and you can Brutal Leap as a Bonus Action to knock enemies prone where you land. Find them in a trapped wooden chest in a cave which you can enter by descending to the north-eastern beach from Rivington. It’s right after the scuffle between the Nine Finger and Stone Lord goons.

Lastly, let’s look at the Helldusk Boots. With these, you get benefits like an automatic success on saving throws, you’ll be immovable, and you can teleport while Raging. Found in a locked gilded chest on the top floor of Wyrm’s Rock Fortress. I highly recommend you loot these before the coronation or before Gortash leaves the throne room as doing it after makes Steel Watches hostile.

Best Barbarian Accessories in BG3

The best amulet and ring for Barbarians are the Amulet of Greater Health and the Ring of Regeneration. The Amulet of Greater Health sets your Constitution to 23 and gives you Advantage on Constitution saving throws. This not only boosts your HP but also your AC. You can steal them from a trapped pedestal in the Archive area of the House of Hope. The Ring of Regeneration heals you for 1d4 HP each turn. You can buy it at the Sorcerous Sundries.

That concludes my guide on the best Barbarian gear in Baldur’s Gate 3. I didn’t include Gauntlets of Hill Giant Strength since you’ll most likely max out Strength anyway so there are much better glove options out there.
