The Sunshine Cup in Pokemon GO has started and this time it’s featuring some Great League rules. Get ready to join as it’ll only be around until May 17. Want to get in on the action but not sure who the best Pokemon to use are? We’ve got you covered with this helpful guide putting together the best teams to beat the Sunshine Cup.
Sunshine Cup Entry Rules
In order for a Pokemon to be allowed into the Sunshine Cup as part of your team, there are a few requirements it must meet:
- 1,500 CP or less
- Is a Normal, Fire, Grass, or Ground type Pokemon
- A Pokemon can be dual type as long as it has one of the above types
- Cannot be Charizard
The teams we put together for you here will meet the type requirements, so you only need to worry about their CP being low enough.
Best Pokemon for Sunshine Cup
With those requirements in mind, here are the best Pokemon to take into the Sunshine Cup.
- Pidgeot: Wing Attack, Feather Dance, Brave Bird
- Noctowl: Wing Attack, Sky Attack, Shadow Ball
- Dubwool: Double Kick, Body Slam, Payback
- Vigoroth: Counter, Body Slam, Bulldoze
- Victini: Quick Attack, V-Create, Overheat
Most of the strongest teams will have both Pidgeot and Noctowl on them. As a note, Pidgeot will need to be taught Wing Attack via an Elite TM. If you don’t have access to this, you can switch out the attack for Air Slash, or choose a completely different Pokemon.
Best Teams for the Sunshine Cup
Here are some of the strongest teams competing in the Sunshine Cup.
Team 1
- Pidgeot: Wing Attack, Brave Bird
- Noctowl: Wing Attack, Shadow Ball
- Vigoroth: Counter, Bulldoze
