With the new option to mod your car in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3, cars have become some of the most deadly weapons. Coming across enemies with cars is more dangerous than ever and usually ends with your immediate demise. However, there are some ways you can counter these cars.
How to Beat Enemy Cars in Fortnite Wrecked
Your immediate thought when facing an enemy car is to blow it up as soon as possible. Unfortunately, it gets a bit more complicated than that this season. Cars are more easily repaired and, with their mods, harder to destroy. This means that if you want to stand a chance against them, you’ll need to get a bit creative.
If you’re getting frustrated and don’t know how to defend against them, these are some ideas you can try for better results:
Your Own Modded Car
The simplest solution to countering a car is getting your own and fighting fire with fire. Better yet, mod it up with all that you can get: off-road tires, turrets, and spiky bumpers. That way, you can ram into them and out-car their car. Plus, they won’t be able to run you over so easily. You can always make a quick getaway if need be. If you can manage to get a boss car, then you’ll be even faster. Just ensure you’re paying a close eye on your car’s health so you aren’t caught in its potential explosion.
Nitro Fists
One of the most common anti-car items of the season is Nitro Fists. These are new items that also allow you to boost around the map or punch things. You can use either of its effects to escape an oncoming car or meet it head-on with a steel-plated fist. Use its jump ability to avoid being hit and pound down into the ground to send the car off course and perhaps disable it completely.
Boom Bolt
Another new item you can put to good use is the Boom Bolt. This explosive crossbow is particularly effective against vehicles, thanks to its explosions. Pick a nice, safe spot and fire away on the enemy car. Its arrows will attach to the vehicle and detonate for a lot of damage. The crossbow will be even more effective if you pair it with some boss medallions, especially Ringmaster Scarr’s. That way, you can have unlimited bolts to fire down on them, and their car will be toast before they know it.
High Ground
Being on the ground when a car is approaching is the worst possible position. If you want to be able to defend against an enemy car, you’ll want to avoid being on the ground at all costs. This means getting up high, whether on a hill, mountain, or on top of a building. Buildings are especially safe spots because cars won’t be able to drive up them. The best way to get up high fast is to use Nitro Fists, but if you don’t have those, you can also use Shockwaves or just climb.
Get in Their Car
You know what they say — if you can’t beat them, join them. If you don’t have Nitro Fists or any other way to escape an incoming vehicle, one of the other best options to get away is hopping into the car with them. This only works if the car isn’t already full, so usually only in solos. Believe it or not, this can be an effective method. They won’t be able to shoot at you or run you over. They will be forced to jump out of the car to try and attack you, allowing you to switch to the driver’s seat and reverse the tables on them.
War Battle Bus EMP
Another bizarre tactic to use against vehicles is, surprisingly, the Battle Bus. The War Battle Bus can be seen venturing around the map as part of the boss convoy. If you can manage to defeat the enemy convoy and claim the bus as your own, you can actually use it to disable cars. Just get into the radius of a nearby car and press the honk button to send out an EMP. This will make the car stop working entirely. However, the real challenge is getting the Battle Bus first.
Porta-A-Bunker
One last method that has proved very effective for me is Porta-A-Bunkers. These devices, when thrown down onto the ground, create an instant fort in that spot. These structures are much stronger than your usual building material structures in build modes. If you can time your throws correctly, you can pop up a Porta-A-Bunker right in front of the car, causing it to crash. If you’re really fast, you can even trap the car in completely by throwing down more bunkers around it.
These are just a few ways you can try to counter those destructive vehicles. Hopefully, more anti-car items will come into play as the season progresses, like the new Heavy Sniper. In the meantime, try to keep high ground or use their own tactics against them.
