Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: Best Striker Build

The Striker SMG is one of the best weapons in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Here's the best build for it.

The Striker SMG is one of the first weapons you can equip in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and I think it’s one of the best guns in the game, regardless of when you get it. Even using its default kit, the gun is very good, though the iron sights are a bit too occlusive for my tastes. That’s why, in this guide, we’ll be going over the best Striker build in MW3 that makes it effective at almost any range and in almost any situation.

As an SMG, the Striker’s main weakness is its shorter range and increased damage falloff. Plus, as I said, the default iron sights get in the way more than they actually help identify a target. With the build below, we’ll go a long way toward solving both of those problems while also making the gun a master of stealth without losing effectiveness.

Best Optic: Slate or MK. 23 Reflector

If you want the best precision sight picture in all of MW3, equip either the SLate or MK. 23 Reflector sights. The Slate is good because it uses the traditional red dot and because the sight frame is thin enough not to be in the way but noticeable enough that you can better center your aim. The MK. 23 opts for an open-top design to the frame and uses a blue dot, but the sides of the viewing window are thicker than the Slate’s, helping make identification easier.

Best Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor

While the Monolithic Suppressor reduces your ADS speed something fierce, the recoil control it offers makes the Striker much more of a laser than it was previously. And with unsuppressed fire once again marking you on the minimap, I predict suppressors are back on the menu in a big way.

Best Underbarrel: FTAC SP-10 Angled Grip

Vertical recoil is much easier to control than horizontal, and with the FTAC SP-10 Angled Grip, the Striker only gains a bit of the former. In return, its horizontal recoil gets much more controllable, and your walking steadiness and idle sway both improve, as does your initial kick control. There’s almost no downside.

Best Ammo: .45 Auto High Grain

This ammo choice is why we’re using the Monolithic Suppressor for this Striker build. The two attachments effectively cancel each other out when it comes to recoil control. However, with these rounds equipped, the Striker gets a big bonus to its bullet velocity and a bit of additional range. Better yet, enemies you kill won’t create a skull on their friends’ HUD, giving you even more of an advantage.

Best Stock: Lachmann Recon Series Stock or FSS Titan Stock

Which of these two stocks you choose will depend on how you want your Striker to feel. The FSS sacrifices a bit of the weapon’s mobility for more consistent handling. The Lachmann Recon does the opposite, granting you straight movement speed and aim walking buffs at the cost of aim stability while you’re firing. Try both and see which works better for you.

And that’s our build guide for the Striker SMG in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. We’re bound to get more loadout choices come full release. For now, the setup listed here makes the weapon a laser, with better range, handling, and stealth capabilities without sacrificing its SMG mobility.
