With the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 release date approaching, many CoD fans are understandably wondering if cosmetics will transfer to the new title. There’s plenty of new content to look forward to, but losing those hard-earned, or purchased, skins would be a bummer. So will MW2 skins transfer to MW3? We’ve got all you need to know here.
Will MW2 Skins Transfer to MW3? Answered
Yes, all purchased or earned skins from MW2 and Warzone will transfer to MW3. Activision released a detailed statement declaring that for the first time in the history of Call of Duty, select content will “Carry Forward” into the next Modern Warfare title. However, they clarify that the “Carry Forward” feature is restricted to weapons and cosmetic content. If you’re anything like me, you hate to see cosmetics left behind, so this is incredible news. Here’s a detailed list of what you can expect to transfer to MW3:
- Calling Cards
- Wartracks
- Loading Screens
- Emblems
- Stickers
- Vehicle Skins
- Operator Skins
- Operators
- Weapons
- Weapon Skins
- Weapon Blueprints
- Weapon Attachments
- Weapon Charms
- Weapon Stickers
Some vehicle skins and wartacks will not carry over, because the content won’t appear in MW3 — The specifics will be available at launch. As an added bonus, you’ll be able to level up a MW2 weapon in MW3, and the progression will remain shared between games. So if you decide to hop back to MW2, you can expect to keep any progress made in MW3, and vice versa. However, it’s important to note that “Carry Forward” literally means forward. So no content unique to MW3 will be available in MW2.
