If you’ve updated your game like many others, then you might have an error message with the “game_steam_ship.exe” file bugged. The developer is aware of this issue and is currently working on an official solution for all the frustrated players.

But if you can’t wait to play the game and don’t want to wait for the patch, then you can edit a single registry entry in your Windows to make the game launch. I was happy to learn that this method worked for a lot of players in a similar situation. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Press the “Start” button.
  2. Enter “Registry Editor” in the search field.
  3. Once found, select the “Run as Administrator” option.
  4. In the registry window, go to the following location: “Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography”

There, you’ll find three entries, and you have the option to try with the “MachineGuid” value data entry, including:

  • Double-click the “MachineGuid” entry and change the existing value data to the following one:
    • d1eb246e-6243-4460-a88e-5d4e52b1ef6b
  • Be sure to save the original value data in case you need it.

One of these two options should work for you, but if there’s no result even after using these methods, then be patient and wait for the official patch to fix everything. You could also try to disable the XMP option in your BIOS settings of the RAM memory, but this method hasn’t been as successful as the registry editing.
