About halfway through the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty campaign, you’ll find yourself in the casino. There’s a tense moment as V attempts to gather more intel. However, the choice at hand may not be clear — or you may be wondering if there’s a difference. Worry not! Here’s whether you should bet on red or black in the casino.
Should You Bet on Red or Black in the Casino in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty?
The Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty bet on red or black objective occurs during a mission called You Know My Name, which takes place in the Black Sapphire hotel and casino. Here’s a quick summary of what transpires prior to this stage:
- V will infiltrate the hotel and help out Reed as a sniper.
- V and Reed will change into their snazzy clothing (don’t forget to take Photo Mode screenshots while you’re at it), so they can disguise themselves as guests.
- You’ll talk to Reed and mingle with some NPCs while waiting for Songbird.
- After the conversation, Alex will tell you to play a bit of roulette. This leads to the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty bet on red or black objective.
Meeting Aurore and Aymeric While Playing Roulette
Alex gives you an extra 100,000 credits, which you can exchange for tokens via the cage cashier. Next, approach the roulette wheel where the twins, Aurore and Aymeric, are playing. I suggest keeping a manual save here, just in case. Here’s what you can expect:
- The objective is to chat with Aurore and Aymeric, getting them to open up as you scan their background information.
- While doing this, you have the option to bet on red or black in between breaks in the conversation.
- In my experience, I chose the following: red -> black -> black -> red -> red -> black.
- When prompted to go “all in,” I chose red.
- I can also tell you that I lost some of these rolls. However, the banter continued normally. I did win the “all-in” challenge, so that was fine.
- Also, when the twins prompted me to divulge V’s identity, I chose: “V, a merc from the Afterlife.”
To be frank, I can’t say if the results are randomized or set in stone (i.e. you’re always guaranteed to win). Nevertheless, Colonel Hansen does show up, and you’ll have no choice but to leave the casino. Don’t forget to return to the cashier so you can exchange your winnings for credits that you can spend elsewhere.
That’s it: that’s everything you need to know whether you should bet on red or black in the casino in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. Speaking of Colonel Hansen, you will encounter him a bit later in the campaign. We discuss that pivotal moment in our Colonel Hansen boss guide.
